Laser Eye Surgery: Facts vs Fiction

The very idea or desire of getting rid of fogged up glassed in the winters or the task of cleaning and maintaining contact lenses on a regular basis seems a bit too tempting for any person who is suffering for near or far sightedness. And this is the reason why thousands of people in Sydney are now going for laser eye surgery these days. But do not make the mistake of treating it as the lasers you get to see in sci-fi or thriller movies where a beam of red light edges perilously toward the protagonist, sending shivers down the spine of movie watchers. However, you need not worry about such a thing at all during this form of surgery as this laser actually treats your vision related problem instead of bringing pain and misery into your life. If you have developed some sort of fear related to this surgery, then it is probably because you have been a victim of myths and rumors about this treatment, like so many people in Sydney and other major cities of the world.

One such myth is that laser surgeries cannot treat ageing eyes. However, this is not at all true because the progress made in the field of surgery and medicine has now managed to outpace evolution to a great extent. It is because of the improvements made in the field of medicine that the life expectancy of humans has increase to a considerable extent in the last few decades. Although the laser treatments available these days cannot stop the ageing of eyes and its related problems but they can certainly treat the problems, that too in a matter of minutes, if not seconds.

While there are still a lot of clinics in places like Sydney which continue to work on the methodology of replacing natural lens located inside the eye with that of a synthetic lens, there are others which resort to laser blended vision treatment, which is most done for the treatment of presbyopia. The treatment is minimally invasive and this is one of the major reasons why certain a-list celebs are also going for it these days.

There are some people who do not go for this eye surgery because they believe that the effect of this surgery would not last for a long period of time. This again happens to be a misconception because the changes made by this surgery to the eye remain permanent.
