Photorefractive Keratectomy Treatment in Sydney

PRK is a short term for Photorefractive Keratectomy. It is a type of surgery based on laser technique which is done to correct type of eye-problem. This laser eye surgery is performed by expert eye-doctor or eye-surgeon to correct mild to moderate nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. There are several types of eye-laser-surgery-procedures done for vision correction. All of them (laser vision connection surgeries) are performed by reshaping the cornea. Cornea is a clear front part of the eye. Reshaping the cornea is performed so that light traveling through it is properly focused onto the retina located in the back of the eye. Photorefractive Keratectomy Laser Surgery Procedure is performed by an eye surgeon who uses a laser to reshape the cornea. This laser delivers a cool pulsing beam of ultraviolet light. And it is used on the surface of the cornea.

The PRK treatment has becoming popular because of its benefits and advantages. It is highly accurate in correcting many cases of nearsightedness. It can help in eliminate the need of wearing eye-glasses or lenses. Most patients (gone under the surgery) have found great results as they now have correct vision without eye-glasses or contact lenses. During the procedure there can be few side effects which are normal and temporary. For example, patient may feel mild discomfort for one to three days following the procedure. A minor eye irritation and watering may be faced too which is again normal and temporary. Patients experience sensitivity to light as well. Patients are always advised and suggested to follow what their eye-surgeon or eye-doctor prescribes them to do and follow.
